Symptom: System freezes intermittently

 

UNAVI Technical Guide Checklist

When technical support inquiry is received regarding the system freezing or locking up, follow the guideline below and record problem with detailed information as possible:

Example 1 – Froze while navigation was loading; problem appeared after 3 wks; occurs within 2 hours; vehicle is driven mostly in Orange, CA (or Orange County) area; advised customer to update system with the latest firmware; proceed with RA if problem persists

 Example 2 – Froze while booting; problem appeared after a week; recover OS using NK.bin and update with the latest firmware; proceed with RA if problem persists

 

Procedural Checklist

1. Check firmware version (Main Menu: Settings > Program > under version information)

2. When does the symptom occur? (Navigation, playing MP3, listening to radio, during boot-up)

3. When did you first notice the freezing issue? (after 1 day, week, month, etc.)

4. Duration of symptom (every 30 minutes, 2 hours, random, etc.)

5. Occurrence of symptom (once a day, twice a week, 3-5 times a month, etc.)

6. If during navigation, does it occur in the same region? (Determine approximate location)

 

NOTES

  • If firmware is not up to date, update system with the latest version.  If problem persists, request for RMA (MUST replace and return all components).

  • If firmware version cannot be confirmed (in cases where system won’t load during boot-up), request for RMA immediately (MUST replace and return all components).

  • If system successfully boots up via SD Card using the NK.bin file, update system with the latest version. If problem persists, request for RMA (MUST replace and return all components).

  • Use GROUND wire located on the SMART cable to ground it to the vehicle chassis frame.

  • Inspect for any peeled off cable sheath and/or damaged outer insulation; wrap it around using an electrical tape as necessary.
